I am not a big fan so far as I have a spreadsheet where I track my asset break down. When I chose "All my accounts" the X-Ray showed that I am in 100% cash but once I changed it to "Investment Accounts Only" it showed me a breakdown. Morningstar X-ray seems to be a hit or miss. I learned something from the report and this is clearly a great convenience.ģ. The Credit Score is pretty neat and this is new for 2015, I provided my SSN (with still some concerns but believing the assurances from Quicken) and I quickly got my credit score and a neat and short report on where I stand and how my credit score is affected. If you use Quicken 2012 or older and love to budget and track your expense you will love the budgeting in 2015.Ģ. I hated the budgeting in 2012, it was half baked not thought through at all. I think this probably happened in 2013 or 2014 but now the budgeting is solid. The first thing I noticed that is a HUGE improvement (If I could increase the font size for HUGE I would have doubled it) in the budgeting portion. Within the first hour what do I like? As I have declined all the 'cloud' offerings I cannot comment on it.ġ.

Why would I then choose the cloud?Īnyways, coming to installation experience, I started at 5:40 and I was done by 6:00! Yes, Quicken uninstalled my 2012, installed 2015, asked me to restart the machine, then I created the Intuit Id, converted my 2012 data file and even updated to the R2 of Quicken 2015 and I was done in 20 minutes. First of all I am very concerned about sending my personal data to the 'cloud' and that is the reason I buy Quicken instead of using Mint or Personal Capital. I did create a Intuit Id but declined all cloud services. For me, this can wait till end of the day. I can access my laptop daily and I do not have a burning desire to track my expenses on the go or look at my investments in the middle of the day. I was never a fan of quicken's mobile device distraction couple of years that resulted in all the bugs and head aches and ulcers!. During the installation process I declined all the "cloud" options. I stared my installation process around 5:40 PM after backing up my existing Quicken file twice (I told you I am old school!).

As usual Amazon pleasantly surprised me and delivered the disk today evening.

After reading so many bad reviews, I wanted the software on the 11th (Saturday) which I thought will give me a solid three days to install and trouble shoot. Amazon told me that the expected delivery date was October is 15th which was a big bummer for me.

I placed my order on October 8th for the PC Disk version and chose Free shipping (I never want to pay for shipping). Typically I would try to buy from a box store so that I can get my hands on the software right away and should I decide to return it is always easy (if within return policy). As Chase Freedom card gives 5% cashback for Amazon purchases, I decided to buy this from Amazon (as opposed to Costco which has the same price).

I am not sure how this works when you download and I just want to play safe.

Something in the back of my mind kept telling me that it is safe to buy and keep the disk if I need to install it into another computer, should I decide to upgrade my laptop in the next few years. Being the old school guy I am, I decided to buy the PC Disk version. Once I saw the price drop to 69.99 I decided to pull the plug. Now I have more incentive to suck up and upgrade. One of the main reason is that I get three years of online updates (updating transactions directly from Quicken). After reading the reviews of Quicken for the past three years I resisted upgrading. But I cannot find ANY software that I can install in the safety of my LOCAL DISK that can help me with both personal finance and investment management.Ĭoming to the upgrade, after 2012, I kept getting emails from Quicken for the past three years prodding me to upgrade, last year they even sent me a 50% discount coupon. Can the software be better? Absolutely! I have an long list of enhancement requests myself.

Bottom line till today I do not see any piece of comprehensive software that can cover both personal finance and investment that is better than Quicken. I used Mint for a while for personal finance and bought an Investment Manager recommended by AAII of all people and that piece of software was a total waste of money. In the past I have done exhaustive research to find the right tool that is a single stop shop for both managing my personal finance and my investments. In 2011 fall October I got my first quicken 2012 premier. I recommend the PC Disk as my experience in using it was smooth.ġ. MY REVIEW (in Amazon) as I upgraded today.įirst some background to alleviate any concerns on the legitimacy of my review.ĭisclaimer: I bought the PC disk version.
